Seafoam Camellia has numerous large, white flowers late winter through spring; complemented by its year round lustrous, glossy, deep-green foliage. These full flowers are great for cut flowers and are great for flower arranging.In peak bloom, the abundance of buds and flowers almost hide its foliage. The flowers also are great for attracting pollinators who struggle to find blooms during cooler seasons.

Seafoam grows to be a large specimen, has large formal blooms, and makes a very strong tall hedge in warm locations. This camellia variety is easy to grow. It can grow as far north as zone 7. It grows best in well drained soil with partial sun. Although it can grow in full sun it is usually slow to grow.

I also have seen this plant in large terra cotta container gardens on patios and around pools. It is usually planted in southern gardens along the edges as a back drop to smaller shrubs and perennials. This large shrub can reach around 16' tall but is a slow grower. It can be as wide as 6 feet at maturity. I personally keep mine pruned to 9' high and 4' wide. But pruning is only once per year.
